The Journey For The Cubs begins on Thursday. It seems like a lot of Cubs fans are already ticked off in anticipation of being ticked off later when the Cubs either back up the truck and start playing Lets Make A Deal, or they do nothing but sit on their hands and do nothing as half their team leaves via free agency. The one thing we know for sure, is that we don’t know anything for sure. You could look at this team, and become very optimistic about the potential of the season and the team. or, well I think we have covered some of the reasons why there is plenty of reason to feel that it is a bumpy road ahead.
So much discussion seems to center around the contracts of several key players. Take Kris Bryant for example, his agent thinks the Cubs should pay him based on the 2015-2017 All Star version and the Cubs want to pay for the 2018-2020 injured. slightly above average version. If the Cubs knew which version they were getting going forward, they could work out a deal, and this goes for Rizzo, and Baez as well.
We have see 2 monster contracts this season (Tatis, Betts) and could have another one soon for Lindor and the Mets. I would guarantee you that 5 years down the line, 2 of those 3 will look really bad. We are about to get something we have not gotten in 2 years, a full baseball season. This team could very well surprise you, just sit back and enjoy the ride.
