June 23,1984 In a nationally televised game, Chicago Cubs’ second baseman Ryne Sandberg hits a leadoff solo home run in the ninth off St Louis Cardinal reliever Bruce Sutter to tie the score 9-9, then hits a two-run, two-out homer in the tenth, knotting the game at 11. Chicago wins the Wrigley Field contest, 12-11, in the next frame on an RBI single by Dave Owen.
