The Cubs could not hold the lead and lose the Rubber game.

Tonights game started off like yesterdays ended. Anthony Rizzo and Ian Happ led off the top of the first inning with back to back home runs. The Mets however did not lay down and answered the Cubs by scoring in the bottom of the second inning with the help of a Kris Bryant error to make it 2-1 Cubs.

In the top of the fourth inning. Kyle Schwarber Launched a mammoth 470 foot shot over the Shea Bridge his 12th of the year. This was the second longest home run at Citi Field. Schwarber has been heating up as of late but is still batting well be low the Mendoza line with a .178 batting average.

The Mets answered back in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the score at 4. The Cubs starting pitcher Mike Montgomery left the game after 5 innings giving up 6 hits and 3 runs. Carl Edwards came in for relief and the Mets Curtis Granderson hit a tie-breaking home run in the eighth inning off reliever Carl Edwards Jr to make it 5-4. Lucas Duda crushed a three-run homer off Hector Rondon as the Cubs lost on the road for the 10th time in 11 games. The Cubs get a day off tomorrow and then play Pirates, 6:05 p.m. Friday at PNC Park. RH Eddie Butler vs. RH Trevor Williams. Go Cubs!
